The Client is a long established pest management company that specializes in providing high quality, environmentally responsible services to a wide range of customers.
The Client was the first pest control company in the world to attain ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification, indicating clearly its ability to be an industry leader in a sustainable and environment friendly way.
Business Challenge
The Client required a suitable system aimed at pest management. However, the need for an improvement in efficiency, as defined by international standards, led to the need for an elaborate Pest Control Scheduler System that would help to:
- Manage customers, sites and stations
- Define the job package as well as to schedule tasks
- Execute the task and generate reports
Solution
The outcome BUGBYTE, developed by Emerio, is a system that provides the maintenance and management staff, with a clear insight into the configuration of contact management and pest and trap management.
In effect BUGBYTE is a Quality Management System (QMS), which incorporates the use of cellular communication capabilities for “REAL TIME” updates and downloads of jobs relating to Pest Management operations on site.
PDA with a Barcode Scanner
A GSM/GPRS “Windows Based OS” handheld PDA is used to generate and record data on simplified input forms.
Strategically Placed Bar Codes
Specialised bar codes are placed throughout the site to identify rodent bait stations, traps, glue boards, insect traps, amount of chemicals/pesticides used etc.
Online Library
Reports and other relevant information i.e. pictures taken on site, pest information etc. can be made available for client viewing and real-time download.
Alarm System
A Critical Control Limit (CCL) on the number of pests trapped can be set up for individual stations and an alarm can be activated on a breach in those limits.
Wireless Capabilities
Remote data synchronization of client specific information and job information from the Server into the PDA can be done via the Internet.
“Station” TRACKING system
All stations have to be inspected in sequence. Hence, stations are always inspected & never missed. Additionally, all stations are linked to Internet-Based digital maps so that data generated can be linked to these maps and station locations.
